Permaculture (5-7 yr olds)

CA$1,450.00

Thursday: 10:30AM to 2:00 PM

Start/End: Sept 2024 // June 2025 × 31 Sessions

Location: Spider Lake Road

Our program follows the Principles of Forest School, where children are encouraged to engage in child-directed and play-based learning. We believe in hands-on experiences, allowing children to explore various activities such as planting and harvesting, seed-to-table cooking, crafting herbal medicine, and Earthworks. Additionally, we'll delve into the wonders of Wildcrafting and explore the vibrant colors offered by nature. We honor seasonal turning by celebrating earth-based festivals throughout the year, renewing our awareness of our deep connection with the earth and its rhythms.

Children will collaborate with each other to create nature and farm-related artworks, some of which they can take home, while others will remain on the farm as a legacy project. Gathering around the fire for storytelling and music will further foster valuable life skills and create unforgettable memories. One of the highlights of the day is sharing meals together that we've harvested and prepared as a team

  • Sharing Circles: Encouraging open and supportive communication.

  • Gratitude Shares: Fostering appreciation for the world around us.

  • Sit Spot: Connecting with nature through mindful observation.

  • Compassionate Listening: Communication emphasizing deep listening, empathy, and understanding.

  • Natural Crafting: Unleashing creativity with materials from the environment.

  • Nature Journaling: Recording observations and reflections in a personal journal.

  • Herbal Medicine: Exploring the medicinal properties of plants.

  • Animal Tracking: Understanding the footprints and signs of local wildlife.

  • Foraging: Discovering edible treasures in the natural surroundings.

  • Gardening: Nurturing and cultivating plants.

  • Food Preservation: Learning techniques to preserve and store food.

““If you’re looking for a once-a-week outdoor adventure, Genevieve is an absolutely incredible spirit with such a depth of knowledge and passion for outdoor learning, and empathy for the little beings in her care. The explorations they do together go so far beyond “nature class”, and include emotional self-awareness, social justice, empathy, compassion, and teamwork. I can’t gush enough about this program Little Knapsack Club “”
— Natalie DeGoey
“I sent both of my daughters to a similar program offered by Genevieve. This program was so special to our family and my girls. Genevieve is an amazing mentor/teacher. She has a wonderful ease with her students and her knowledge and understanding of nature, community and patience with her students is majestic. We adore Genevieve and I wished that we lived closer so that we could benefit from her programs. This one is truly special and if you have a daughter who is wanting to get closer to nature and to learn about sisterhood in a very supportive and inclusive, fun environment with an amazing mentor, then I highly recommend this program with Genevieve ❤️”
— Laura Lunds

“My son absolutely loves outdoor school! This is our second year now and his love and curiosity for playing and exploring outside has grown enormously since we started. Sun, rain or snow they are out there having a blast. He comes home rosy cheeked and exhausted! Couldn’t be more happy with the teachers and program. We recommend to everyone.”
